Adapt and Overcome
There was a saying that came to mind for me on Wednesday when we began the boot camp...
"Adapt and overcome".
We had more sloppy conditions which limited our ability to use any grass, but we adapted the boot camp class to keep everyone relatively dry and overcame the limitations. We got a lot accomplished and I am receiving some great feedback from people thus far. Keep up the great work everyone.
I saw more sad, agonizing faces on Wednesday and nothing makes me happier than seeing people work hard even when the task seems daunting and the body screams "NO!".
For those who are cruising along, that is outstanding. You will hopefully act as a becon of light and some inspiration for those who have some catching up to do. No time exercising is a wasted effort and even when you're not "in the hurt locker", you can rest assured that your body is gonna thank you tomorrow, next week and years from now for your consistent and positive influence on it's physiological foundation.
See everyone tonight(Friday),

Fitness Boot Camp - Update
I wanted to thank those who made it out to Boot Camp Day One and apologize to anyone who was looking for us at "Central Park". There was a misprint on the Coupon and was supposed to say "centralized park". So anyways, the camp is running behind the Royal Saskatchewan Museum in the Park shown here:
http://maps.google.ca/maps?q=Royal+Saskatchewan+Museum,+Albert+Street,+Regina,+Saskatchewan&hl=en&sll=50.438812,-104.611259&sspn=0.007462,0.021136&gl=ca&t=h&z=15
For those who made it out, we saw some long faces as well as some high energy. The workout today wasn't meant to kill anyone, but I think there were some challenges and everyone stepped up to meet them head on. We worked full body today through some light rain, soggy ground and mosquitos, but no complaints anywhere. Hope everyone can make it out for Day Two, WEDNESDAY.

Mentally tough... road to physically fit
The first 2 weeks of Boot Camp Regina have been fun and challenging so far. We've had some rain, some sun and some puking. We had our first puker this past Monday and I am always impressed by this. I have always maintained, due to my experience, that throwing up during a workout is a testament to the hard work someone puts into that workout.
Most people don't have the capacity or fortitude to push themselves into that realm. And when they do, it's a huge step in the right direction. We have to remind ourselves that getting our hands a little dirty, or in this case, our shoes and the grass a little dirty, is necessary in order to make strides and bounds in our fitness journey and is NOTHING to be ashamed of. It's admirable to complete a workout when that workout has basically kicked you in the stomach and has almost convinced you that it has won the battle of the day. Good thing for your perseverance...

Why Personal Training?
As the spring and summer finally make their way here, many people are looking to re-boot their health and fitness. The prospect of getting back into shape, shedding some body fat or hopefully re-gaining a body to be happy with for the skimpy clothing summer are reasons why people are looking for fitness options.
Many people figure jumping into a gym membership or going back to their old fitness center is the answer. And I can assure most of you who have never taken kinesiology education or at the very least, trained like a serious athlete, you are making a mistake.
Having an education in the fitness industry is serious business these days. Certified Personal Trainers and conditioning coaches are highly experienced and knowledgeable professionals who spend years, sometimes decades educating their minds and honing their skills through hours of sessions with clients and athletes. As well, they usually spend hours every week in the gym practicing and working out themselves to ever perfect their trade like a surgeon or mechanic.
Believing that you can teach yourself to work out with a few copies of Men's Health/ Women's Health, some Googled website or from a friend who used to play sports, YOU ARE KIDDING YOURSELF. Now don't get me wrong, supplementing your training with those types of resources is a GREAT IDEA. But, you only get to do that once you've been properly educated and instructed by an expert. That expert is a certified trainer.
Just as doing your own car repairs or re-modelling your bathroom is something you take up in your spare time and get plenty of help from others before you eventually consult experts at. So should you strive to learn to train your own body and inevitably consult experts. Personal trainers and certified trainers are the key ingredient to success in a shorter period of time for reaching your goals.
Exercise physiology, physical fitness and nutrition are VERY COMPLEX subjects and you are going to find yourself overwhelmed with information and so called "advice" from too many people who aren't experts at all, but rather weekend warriors who have "worked out before". Or maybe they "used to be athletes". In any case, their advice is about as reliable as a guy who goes to the casino and thinks he can tell you what numbers might hit next on roulette. He might be right about 6 to 9% of the time, which doesn't exactly instill a lot of confidence, especially when you are dealing with YOUR body, personal health and safety.
People who work with educated, experienced trainers can tell you, it is the absolute best way to reach your goals, stay motivated, learn how to do it right and gain the confidence to work out on your own. Not to mention, what better way to get your ass kicked back into shape, than to have a person, who works out and trains people for a living, construct a gruelling, but safe workout for you day after day, week after week?
If you honestly want to get the best out of your body, live longer and prevent weight related diseases and life threatening conditions, then it's time to invest with a professional trainer, invest your time and effort into be healthy and invest in your own future today!
